چکیده
Objective: To study the protective effect of polyprenols on acute liver injury induced by CCl4 and D-Gal. Method: The acute liver injury model induced by 0.5% CCl4 in olive oil (10ml/kg) and D-Gal (800mg/kg, i.p.) in mice and rats respectively. 10, 40 and 160 mg/kg polyprenols was administered i.g., to study the protective effect for different doses of polyprenols, the therapeutic effect of each groups was assessed using the activities of ALT and AST in serum, and observed pathological changes of liver. Result: polyprenols can reduce significantly the increase of ALT and AST in serum and the level of liver injury induced by CCl4 and D-Gal. Conclusion: Polyprenols has the powerful protective effect on acute liver injury induced by CCl4 and D-Gal.

The protective effect of infliximab against carbon tetrachloride-induced acute lung injury
Objective(s): Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) causes pulmonary toxicity. Infliximab (Ib) is a potent inhibitor of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). We aimed to investigate whether Ib has a protective effect on CCl4 induced lung injury. Materials and Methods:Rats were divided into control, CCl4, and CCl4+Ib groups. A single dose of 2 ml/kg CCI4 was administered to CCI4 group and a single dose of...

Background and objectives: Free radicals and other oxidants have important roles in liver cell toxicity. Some natural products are potent scavengers of oxidative agents. Crocus caspius is an endemic species of Caspian forest. Flowers of Crocus genus contain phenolic compound and carotenoid as antioxidant agent. This study investigated the antioxidant and hepat...

In India, a number of medicinal plants and their formulations are used to cure hepatic disorders in traditional systems of medicine. No systemic study has been done on protective effect of Cucumis trigonus Roxb. (Cucurbitaceae) to treat hepatic diseases. Protective action of C. trigonus fruit extracts was evaluated in this study in animal model of hepatotoxicity, which was induced by carbon tet...

The present investigation aims at assessing the hepatoprotective effect of triterpene fraction isolated from the stem bark of Wrightia tinctoria (containing lupeol, b -amyrin and b -sitosterol) on CCl 4 -induced hepatotoxicity in the rat. CCl 4 (1.5 mg/kg, i.p) is a potent hepatotoxic agent which causes peroxidative degeneration of membrane lipids with the potential outcome of fatt...
